What is the Pembrokeshire Historical Society?
The Society was formed in 1985 following the amalgamation in 1983 of the Pembrokeshire OrieltonRecord Society and the Pembrokeshire Local History Society. The Society exists to promote an interest in the history of Pembrokeshire and to bring together both individuals and related organisations sharing this interest.
What do we do?
Throughout the winter, the Society organises monthly lectures given by informed speakers on subjects which include archaeology, architectural, maritime, social, religious, industrial and economic history, genealogy and heraldry. In the summer visits are arranged to sites and places of historical interest. The Society publishes and sells an annual Journal of articles on Pembrokeshire History & Pre-history. It has also promoted the publication of the Pembrokeshire County History volumes and several of its Executive Committee members sit on the Pembrokeshire County History Trust which is responsible for their publication.
